Be the Headline Act

Social media presence is a very important part of, not only our personal lives but our professional lives too.

We as a society almost find it strange when someone doesn’t have a Facebook profile and question that person’s character, “does this person have something to hide?!”

When it comes to the professional networks it’s almost imperative to have a profile.

Certainly, from a recruiters’ perspective, if someone changes their mobile number and they don’t have a LinkedIn profile for example, we can lose contact with those individuals altogether.

We have a dream job with their dream company and there’s no way of contacting them

So, on that note, presence is the first port of call however perception is a close second with users being split into 3 types:

“The Voyeur”
They’re like those festival goers who don’t really seem fussed to be there, they know the odd song or two but if they stay quiet for too long you’d forget they attended the event.

“Hardcore Groupie”
You know who they are, they’ve got all the wrist bands to numerous events, usually in their 30s, always manage to get the tickets that you can’t seem to get your sticky mits on and are every Event Marketing Teams dream because they’re the types that post updates on their social media about up and coming events. They’re very opinionated

“The Headliner”
These are the ones you look up to on stage, they’ve put themselves out there for everyone to see, have thousands if not millions of followers who can’t wait to hear their new material. It’s thought provoking, provocative, inspiring, uplifting and emotional. They’re the Gods of social media

The only difference with this event is that everyone has a fair shot at being the headline act, the star up on stage, getting the crowd going and enjoying the adulation for their cleverly worded texts

The winner of this event is awarded a trophies/contract at the “Business of Choice Awards” [Employer/company] with an announcement on the professional network that you’ve accepted a New Job.

To be selected you must either be: Hardcore Groupie
They are a Headliner in the making, with personal brand, marketing, social profiles all on point

The Headliner
Solid following, acutely brand aware, understands their fan base, you know what you’re getting and they pull in the crowds. They’re dedicated and consistent to the cause with a certain amount of kudos around their influencer persona

All is not lost for The Voyeurs because now you have the information you need to be a nominee at the upcoming award show/job application.

The Business of Choice is predictable with magpie-like behaviours they gravitate towards the big, shiny, glitz and glam of a Hardcore Groupie or Headliner in a future employee. Take the mantle, seek development and head forth to join you, fellow nominees, in the next job-seeking event
